What is a field call?
A field call is an in-person attendance made to obtain or communicate information that cannot be handled effectively from a desk. It may involve confirming whether a person resides or works at an address, delivering a message or request, making permitted enquiries, recording the apparent status of an asset, or seeking updated contact details.
Unlike standard process serving, a field call ordinarily covers one agreed attendance rather than up to three attempts. The objective, permitted questions and reporting requirements should therefore be clear before the agent attends.
Who uses our field services?
We accept properly authorised instructions from solicitors, mercantile agents, insurers, lenders, businesses, strata and property professionals, government departments and private clients. Work is performed discreetly, lawfully and within the scope agreed with the client.
Common field-call instructions
- Residential or workplace address enquiries
- Debtor or customer contact
- Requests for updated telephone or contact information
- Viable-asset and vehicle observations from lawful vantage points
- Occupancy or property-status observations
- Obtaining a response, document or signature where appropriate
- Preliminary enquiries before process service or recovery work
What the report contains
The report records the date, time, location, person contacted, relevant statements and observations within the agreed brief. Photographs may be taken when lawful, safe and useful to the instruction. We distinguish observed facts from information supplied by another person and do not present speculation as a confirmed result.
What to provide
Send the subject’s full name, exact address, known contact details, purpose of attendance, questions to be asked, any documents or authority to present, reporting deadline and known risks. Explain the outcome you are trying to achieve so we can confirm whether a field call is suitable or another service would be more effective.
